What is the Global Passport?

Currently the Global Passport really is no more than your profile, but we intend to evolve it in many ways to really honor the metaphor of "English being your Global Passport". For example, the passport will show how many countries you've been connected to, which represents your journey around the world and on the way to becoming a Global Citizen - the more countries you visit virtually, the more badges you'll have!

Next, we recommend that you download the app, and do the Fluency Challenge, which is a short explanation by Ethan.

Where to watch Friends

While we are able to provide you with all the learning materials, like the PDF Power Lessons, the Memrise Vocabulary training, the PDF & audio reviews, and so much more, unfortunately we are not able to legally provide you with the actual episodes of the TV series Friends.

The series is owned by Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. You can check where the company suggests watching it on this website

Right now you can watch Friends on HBO Max or HBO Go. You are able to stream Friends by renting or purchasing on

I want to practice speaking and listening skills

It might sound obvious, but really the only way to get better at speaking is… by speaking!

Are there Native Speakers on the App?

While you can enjoy pre-recorded podcast lessons from our native coaches under the Podcast tab, and our coaches might jump on the app every once in a while, the purpose of the Global Speak portion of the app is to connect English speaking learners from around the world (other non-natives), which we strongly believe is an effective strategy to gain fluency.

If you're in doubt about the benefit of speaking with non-natives, we highly recommend you listen to this podcast Is it Possible to Speak Good English if I Practice with Non-Natives? with advice from some of the world's top teachers about the topic. We recorded another podcast with Rachel from Rachel's English here (one of the world's authority's on pronunciation). In that podcast, she says:

| "If you had somebody who is not a native speaker that you felt comfortable with, that you were going to be able to practice speaking English with, absolutely jump on that opportunity… 'cause really it's just about forming those habits and that brain-body connection, and that can only be done by actually doing it, speaking it, spontaneous conversation."

Why the 8 minute time limit?

We know that it's really desirable to extend the conversation with people we feel really connected to.

When you use the app, you can collect coins 🪙🪙🪙 that will let you remove the timer (you will get some coins when you complete the Fluency Challenge). Speaking coins are tokens you can use to remove the time limit whenever you want to extend an interesting conversation.
