RealLife: Daily Missions

Welcome to the new RealLife English.

Some features moved to new places. Here is a quick guide to help you find what you are looking for.

Q: What are Daily Missions?

Previous version: The app offered different ways to practice, but without a clear order. This made it hard to know what to do next, and speaking practice was easy to miss, reducing fluency progress.

New version: The app will can give you two missions:

  • Lesson mission: Every lesson and chapter now has three steps: Watch, Practice, and Speak. Watch and Practice can be done in any order. Speak comes last, after you are familiar with the vocabulary and context. For Speak, you can choose between Pronunciation practice or a conversation with the AI Coach — only one is required to complete the step.
  • Review mission: if you finished a lesson and didn't start a new one, on the next day your mission will be to review some words learned in the previous days.

What improved: A clear path means less confusion and more consistent progress. Speaking is now part of every lesson, not something you can accidentally skip.

Q: How do I watch a full lesson without interruptions?

Previous version: Start lesson → dialog: Continuous video format

New version (Daily Missions): Start a lesson → at the end of a lesson, choose "Autoplay chapters"

What improved: Now you can decide at the end of each chapter — continue watching or stop and practice the vocabulary you just learned. You don't need to leave the lesson to make this choice, like you did before.

Note: Autoplay Chapters is a premium feature.

Q: How do I access the transcript again?

Previous version: Start lesson → dialog: Continuous video format

New version (Daily Missions): Start lesson → tap Transcript button

What improved: Now you can switch formats at any time — transcript, chapters, or continuous playback — without leaving the lesson. No more going back to the start to change your view.

Q: How do I choose between writing and flashcard exercises?

Previous version: Vocabulary tab → Review words → Choose between Both, Writing, or flashcards

New version (Daily Missions): Vocabulary tab → Review words → tap "Configure" → Choose between Both, Writing, or flashcards

Note: this setting is only available in the Vocabulary Review flow, not during a lesson.

What improved: The default experience is now simpler and faster. If you want to change the exercise type, the option is still there — just tap Configure in the review screen.

Q: Where did podcast mode go?

/

Previous version: Start lesson → Choose format

New version (Daily Missions): Podcast mode is no longer a separate format. It has been replaced by a new playback experience: a compact video bar appears at the bottom of the screen while you listen, so you can follow along or stay on other parts of the app. Background playback still works — your audio continues when you lock your phone or switch apps. To see only the transcript, tap Transcript button while watching the lesson.

What improved: You still get the same audio-first experience. The video now plays in a small bar at the bottom, so it stays out of your way. Background playback works the same as before.

Q: Where did my time-based goals and reminders go?

Previous version: Home page widget, or Profile → Goals

New version: Profile → Goals

What improved: We are building a new goal-setting experience. For now, your time-based goals are still available in Profile → Goals. More updates coming soon.

Q: Where are my AI Coach reports?

Previous version: Home page

New version: Speak tab → AI Coach reports

What improved: Your reports now live alongside your speaking practice, so everything related to your speaking progress is in one place.

Q: How do I manage which words I study?

Previous version: Vocabulary tab or lesson details → select words → Move to Won't Practice list

New version: Vocabulary tab → tap any word → toggle it on or off

What improved: No more selecting and moving words between lists. One tap changes a word's status immediately. The Practice and Won't Practice tabs are now filters, so you always see exactly what you want.

Note: Vocabulary Manager is a premium function.

Q: What is the pronunciation exercise? Is there a shadowing feature?

Previous version: Many learners asked for a shadowing or pronunciation feature — it was not available.

New version: Pronunciation practice is available as part of the Speaking exercise inside every lesson.

What's next: We have plans to include connected speech and more advanced pronunciation exercises, so you can improve your fluency even further.
